I’ve just loaded up some cloth washers that I made over the last month or so.
The current batch I rounded the corners and overlocked the edges.

One of the cloth washers I made - Let it Snow flannelette with luscious bamboo velour backing.

They ended up measuring slightly less than 20x20cm, so they would fit into an empty commercial wipes container.

Pale blue minky top and Bamboo velour cloth wipesI even made Ooga Booga wipes out of some Ooga Booga flannelette I have handy.

Blue Ooga Booga on bamboo velourAll of the materials have been washed in hot hot water and dried on hot, I’m confident there will be no more shrinking when in use.

The prewashed bamboo velour, while very melt-in-your-hand, ran out on me while making this batch. While prewashing another batch of bamboo velour, I cut up some matching soft dark pink cotton sherpa and continued making cloth washers.

They are very easy to use.
Simply wet, wipe and dry pail with your nappies.
How easy is that? No more separating commercial wipes from your cloth nappies even when out!

  1. I quite like the look of overlooked edges and the rounded corners. :)
20×20 is the perfect size for us. How cute are the ooga booga ones!!!

Rebecca: Yes, I have a few more ooga colours to make wipes with.
Always good to hear from you again Danni :)

  2. overlocked is fine
rounded corners (anything that makes them easier to make and therefore a bit cheaper is good for me :)
    20×20 is a good size
My favourite wipes have flannel or velour on one side and a “grabby” material on the other, so a terry fabric with loops is great. I find the velour is lovely and soft but not that efficient at cleaning up poos once they get to eating solids.
    (unisex pack)

Rebecca: Thanks for the lovely feedback Mon (nice to hear from you!), I’ll go look for some terry next time I fabric shop.
The cotton sherpa seems to be quite grabby too.

  3. 1. overlocked (as pictured)
    2. rounded corners (as pictured)
    3. the size of 20 x 20 should do greatly
    4. no specific preferences

Would really like to try these cloth wipes. The material choices & the pictures are great.

Rebecca: Thanks for the feedback Lausanne and good luck :) See you soon too!

  4. Your cloth wipes look fantastic – i’d be keen to try them. I love the cute fabrics that you have used and like the idea of the two different textures – smooth one one side and ‘grippy’ on the other.
I like the overlocked edges as they are smoother than turned edges. Turned edges can be a bit thick because of all the layers. round or square edges don’t matter to me.
20 x 20 cm is good. I have also seen some for 25 x 25 cm but think that 20 x 20 is big enough. great if they fit in a wipes container.
If i win in your competition i’d like boy or unisex colours. Have been wanting to try cloth wipes for a while. Am an MCN user but have never really taken the step to cloth wipes… i don’t reall know why!
Fingers crossed this might be opportunity.
    Thanks!

  5. What do you like to see in a cloth wipe?

I think overlocked is a much better idea as it looks neater and there is less chance of the edges coming apart.
I prefer rounder corners, no idea why really lol just do
Perfect size at 20×20 I think.
As long as they are soft and do the job good I have no other preferences other than jst cute designs, which you already have going by the pictures

    :)

  6. Hiya Bec, I think both round edges with overlocked stitches or squared edges with turned and top stitched are fine. 20 x 20 cm is a good size as this covers most mummy’s palms and area to be wiped and good size to put in those a used disposable wipes box. I think both side should be absorbant with one side being soft and the other being material being grippy enough to wipe aas ny mess including soft poo to food scraps on your munchkin’s hands and/or face. As it will be used all the time and washed many times, material that’s durable wash after wash is preferable, as it will last many babies and children.

You are doing a marvelous job on those wipes. Wished I could sew.

  7. Your cloth wipes look lovely.

    I think:
    - overlocked
    - rounded corners
    - size: 20cm x 20cm seems right

I love the patterns, especially the farm animals and the boats.
If I win I would like a boyish pack.

  8. 1. Overlooked. It’s a smoother edge.
    2. Rounded corners look nicer
    3. I prefer a bit bigger, 22 x 22 but I only use mine as hand and face wipes so I don’t need them to be small enough to fit in a wipes container and a bit bigger wipes are better for messy faces
I love the feel of bamboo velour and cute prints on the other side are always good

If I win the wipes I would love a unisex pack please :)

  9. - I prefer the wipes to be overlocked, there is less chance that they would frey
    - rounded corners
    - size: 20cm x 20cm is just right, small enough to carry around and control with one hand, but big enough to clean up the mess
    - I like one side to be “grabby” so as to help clean up the pooey bum, and soft on the other

I love the ooga booga wipes, they’re gorgeous! Otherwise unisex would be nice

  10. Overlocked edges seem the best as they are not bulky.
    Definitely rounded corners.
    Size seems fine.
Patterns are more appealling than plain colours. I do like Caressa’s comment about having one side that is soft and one that is a bit more ‘grippy’.
I have been using cloth nappies for about 10 months on my little boy but have never used cloth wipes, I’m not sure why, as they would just end up in the bucket with the nappies. Maybe I should start, especially since we are trying for another. I’m hoping my clock batteries haven’t died, and I’m not too old to provide my little man with a brother or sister…

  11. I like overlocked edges, rounded corners, 20 x 20 is perfect, I love Bamboo velour, so soft and prefer neutral/natural colours – like white, cream or light mint.- although I absolutely love the farmyard and emergency ones you have done! I would love a boyish pack if I were lucky enough to win.

  12. Overlooked edges are better as no poo will get stuck in the seem folds.
Rounded corners have a nicer look to them.
The size is great especially because they fit in the reusable tubs, big plus.
Having only used face washers as reusable wipes, something a bit more absorbent would be great. Keen as mustard to try the combinations of fabric you have put together.
If I was to win I would like neutral or slightly boyish ones.

  13. overlocked probably gives a trimmer finish
rounded corners look nicer I think
size 20-20 sounds ideal, as long as it can be folded to fit into a standard wipes container

other preferences: i like the idea of velour, but practically speaking ‘grabby’ material would definitely be more efficient with cleaning off solid poo

  14. What a great giveaway! Thanks!

    1) overlocked looks neat
    2) rounded corners looks nice too!!
    3)20cm x 20cm is the perfect size!

I love all the patterns that are shown in the pictures! Very cute!! I haven’t used cloth wipes before, but am totally hooked on cloth diapers!! I am looking to get some wipes in the future, that is the next step. I never thought I would use cloth wipes, now I am thinking of trying it!! Yippeee! If I won this giveaway, this would be my stash started to see if I would buy more! Thanks!

  15. Cloth wipes that fit in a comercial size container are great. Makes storing easy and tidy!! Mcn are great as are cloth wipes great competition!!!!

(if I’m a winner unisex pls, were still waiting for our angel to arrive in December!!.

  16. I think overlocked edges are fine for cloth wipes, slightly rounded corners are great, and 20x20cm is a good size but definitely no smaller. I’d love a few colourful wipes to add to my boring ones, these look lovely! If I won I’d choose an “anything goes” pack =)

  17. - overlocked is great
    - rounded corners
    - size: 20cm x 20cm works very well
    - fabrics that dry soft on the line :)

    Unisex!

  18. overlocked edges- more hygienic
rounded corners work well for overlocking but a square corner can be handy for making a fine point to get into tight corners.
    20x 20 is fine
I require soft material, preferably with natural anti-bac properties (like bamboo) and super absorbency, fabric must be able to be washed and bacteria killing temp and either line, tumble or quick dried.

Fixed your typos, thanks for your feedback, enjoy your nights while they last ;)
