Australia Day Market in Bunbury

By beansproutbubba, January 22, 2010 10:27 am

Quick one: Bean Sprout Bubba will take part in the City of Bunbury Australia Day Celebrations in the market stall/sideshow alley area.

When: 26 Jan (Tue) 1-10pm
Where: Grassed area in front of Bunbury Tourist Centre
What to see: Nappies and baby carriers

Brands: Bubba J new colours, and a very limited stock of itti bitti and Baby Beehinds nappies. Ring slings from Bear Hug Baby and Mama Patch.

After the market I anticipate restocking the store with any remaining items, and then taking some preorders for the above nappy brands if there is any interest.

Fathers day market & shop update

By beansproutmumma, September 2, 2009 2:09 pm

Markets are on this Saturday at the Stirling Street Art Centre, Bunbury.
I will be there with cuddlefleece covers and pocket nappies.
I might also prepare a little inexpensive bit o’ fun for all ages, more craft-related than nappy related.

Alongside the usual Arts & Craft market there will be a Father’s Day Garage Sale/Bric-a-Brac/White Elephant Sale.

I’m looking forward to this weekend, simply because I think there will be many more people coming this time.

And on the shop front: the online shop is now live!
After 4 months of a huge learning curve on all things web- and e-commerce-related, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the framework for the shop is all done.
I’m grateful to my husband for being supportive of my endeavours and helping out with the girls and some housework while the shop was being set up.

There’s still a few more bits and pieces to be done so this blog will be rather quiet until I fully sort out the shop website.

Also check out the Great Down Under Nappy Hunt!
There was such a huge response from sponsors that I didn’t get my head in to be part of it this time.
Hopefully I will be all ready once the next one rolls along.

Ahhh too many ideas in my head sometimes :) Best get back to sewing…

Markets are on again

Stirling Street Art Centre Arts & Crafts Market

Stirling Street Art Centre Arts & Crafts Market - my little stall

Next month the Stirling Street Art Centre Arts & Crafts market will be on again on 5 September, the first Saturday of the month.

It runs from 9am to 2pm.

There are other crafty things to see at the markets, I think I’ll take more photos of other stalls to post next month.

Admittedly it is a rather small market, but it is great fun.

I just hope that the stall-holders will stay there until it gets bigger.

I’ll need to tweak my stall display to make it look more appealing and educational.

Market musings

By beansproutmumma, August 6, 2009 12:19 pm

My first market day turned out as well as I expected. A few enquiries, no sales, great feedback on how to do it better next time.

Being in a country city like Bunbury does have its drawbacks, the arts and crafts scene is a lot more mature than the ones in the big cities. There needs to be a modern vibe in craft markets if you want to get younger people to come along.

I’m in the midst of building the website since Prestashop came out with the last stable update, so will be busy with that until the end of the week, hopefully.

I have a number of Bubba J cuddlefleece covers available, mostly in size small, just need to put up photos so that you can see how soft they are. Small covers fit from around 3-6kg, medium from 6-12kg. They are stretchy and water resistant, with all the benefits of a fleece nappy cover but with the fluffy factor of coral fleece.

You really have to feel it to believe it!

So things didn’t exactly go to plan

…but I will still be at the markets!

Realistically I will only have lots of small cuddlefleece covers to sell at the markets this coming Saturday (at the Stirling Street Arts Centre from 9am to 2pm). With two small children underfoot I have grossly overestimated my abilities. I apologise in advance if you were wanting to buy some of the other products in the range.

I will still bring a sample of each product in my range just for you to have a feel.

So look out for my nappy stall at the markets!

Market Progress – in point form

By beansproutmumma, July 24, 2009 12:06 am

Time has flown past, I can’t believe it will be market day in about a week! I love Bubba J and I hope others would love the nappies too. It not only fits my babies well, it is also quick to sew up and not a burden to make.

So far:
- cut out cuddlefleece outers to be made into small and medium fleece covers.
- (halfway) cut out microfleece inners to be made into small and medium fleece covers.
- figured out label & elastic placement on sewing test samples, looking really good so far.

Need to do:
- unpick old labels if using pre-cut fabric.
- cut out new fabric for pockets.

I am still waiting on some material to arrive for the pockets and fitteds. If they don’t arrive on time, I may have to launch at the market with lots of cuddlefleece & minky covers and pocket shells with limited inserts. No fitteds this market round unless I get the fabric tomorrow.

I will do my best to start posting more regularly into this blog, as the shop setup has paused: I need more content written up to continue. What better motivation to blog, ay? :)

To market, to market…

By beansproutmumma, July 8, 2009 11:23 am

…to sell some nappies!
The very first batch of Bubba J nappies made by me will be displayed at the next Stirling Arts Centre Art & Craft market day on 1August.

The market runs every first Saturday of the month.
So if you’re in Bunbury and want to see what I have in stock first hand, be sure to come to the market and find me :)

I will post more details closer to the date.
In the meantime, I will busy myself up with getting ready for the market.
I intend to stock mainly pockets and inserts this time, next time I might expand the range available at the market as I am waiting for some fabric to arrive.

Hope to see you there :)
