Australia Day Market 2012

I had a great day at the market at Bicentennial Square Bunbury on Australia Day yesterday. With the forecasted heat wave (41ºC!) and having to set up from 10-11am, I was a bit nervous in the lead up to the market.

While setting up (next door to the Tourist Information Centre), Dame Edna came by to assist me in promoting my stall…

Dame Edna came to visit my market stallOn the table I had a few bags of Rockin Green Laundry Detergent, various wetbags on special, cloth wipes and packs of inserts.

The blue lacy throw was crocheted in the summer of 2006, and the crochet bowl for the wipes was made a couple of months ago.

ecoBumba nappies were pegged up like bunting, and more ecoBumba nappies were displayed on hangers, though next time I would also include the inserts on the hanger somehow.

Samples and business cards on this table.I also brought along the three nappies that will be up for sale at WAHM Delights: the brown giraffe twin ecoBumba nappy set and the brightly coloured Blue Sunset Waves ecoBumba nappy. Only managed a side view though.

The three WAHM Delights nappies to be sold on Sunday 29 Jan 2012 There was a good response to the nappies, particularly the cute little giraffe.

The market started at 1pm, with mainly tourists and day-trippers browsing the market stalls. At about 6pm the day cooled off, and the crowds descended, in preparation for the fireworks show at 8.30pm. I think there were more people visiting the stall in the last 3 hours than the first 4-5 hours, no thanks to the heat.

I had a better view this year of the Fireworks compared to the Australia Day markets I did in the past two years. No trees or neighbouring stalls to block the view!

Fireworks starFireworks FinaleThank you to all who came past, especially previous clients (you know who you are :) ). It  was also great to meet several like-minded clothie mums who knew modern cloth, I’m looking forward to meeting up with you again soon.

Thanks also goes to my 10+ friends who rocked up after the fireworks ended, and helped me to pack up in record time.

Stay tuned for an ex-demo nappy sale by random.org comments on this blog!

This nappy worked very hard to educate the masses about modern cloth nappies on Australia Day, and needs a new home. Sale by random.org sometime this weekend or early next week, details and photos to come.

2011 BCGS Monster Craft Fair

Bunbury Cathedral Grammar craftfairI will be attending the 2011 Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School (BCGS) Monster Craft Fair and Open Day on Sunday 23 October from 10am to 4pm. Shared EFTPOS facilities will be available, courtesy of the school. Directions to BCGS school can be found here.

Enjoy browsing through over 70 stalls, savour food and drink while listening to live music provided by students of the school, and pick up unique handmade goodies for Christmas gifts.

Look out for the ecoBumba banner and the Bean Sprout Bubba banner. I will be at an outside stall (close to the food and music) with handmade nappies, nappy sprayers, Christmas stocking stuffers and other cloth delights.
Hope to see you there!

Fathers day market & shop update

Markets are on this Saturday at the Stirling Street Art Centre, Bunbury.
I will be there with cuddlefleece covers and pocket nappies.
I might also prepare a little inexpensive bit o’ fun for all ages, more craft-related than nappy related.

Alongside the usual Arts & Craft market there will be a Father’s Day Garage Sale/Bric-a-Brac/White Elephant Sale.

I’m looking forward to this weekend, simply because I think there will be many more people coming this time.

And on the shop front: the online shop is now live!
After 4 months of a huge learning curve on all things web- and e-commerce-related, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the framework for the shop is all done.
I’m grateful to my husband for being supportive of my endeavours and helping out with the girls and some housework while the shop was being set up.

There’s still a few more bits and pieces to be done so this blog will be rather quiet until I fully sort out the shop website.

Also check out the Great Down Under Nappy Hunt!
There was such a huge response from sponsors that I didn’t get my head in to be part of it this time.
Hopefully I will be all ready once the next one rolls along.

Ahhh too many ideas in my head sometimes :) Best get back to sewing…
